THE SYSTEM BASED LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE BASED LEADERSHIP

It has always been my desire to raise people but not just dogmatic people. People that can one day develop and be better than I am, this makes me invest more time in people training as I believe that knowledge and technical know how is the only sustainable development a person can obtain. Leadership should be everyone's goal, it should be a goal of living a legacy of difference in any sphere of life we find ourselves.

Some leaders are better at the technical side of leading: strategy, planning, finances e.t.c, while others are better at the people side of leading which is connecting, communicating, casting vision, motivating e.t.c any of the one stated above, you can be stronger in one than the other, but a leader must strive to develop the abilities of balancing both sides of leadership.

THE SYSTEM BASED LEADERSHIP

This system is concerned about methods alone, this is quite important, as I believe that structure and system is what helps to sustain and replicate development. When you are a leader mostly concerned about structure and systems, you tend to become a manager and not a leader, you tend to be seen as a boss and not an example. The system based leadership talks majorly about planning, goal setting, discipline, reports, finances, trainings e.t.c. Without this system of leadership people won't be stretched to bring out the best in them, people will tend to stay in their comfort zone, but when you only run with the system based leadership alone it can make you feel

  1. Alone and unfulfilled
  2. Exhausted
  3. Only effective by the positions you occupy
  4. Always want to be recognized as the source of every success achieved
  5. Take failure very personal and could become reactive
  6. Puts emphasis on the functionality of system above people
  7. Doesnt really make a lasting impression on people
THE PEOPLE BASED LEADERSHIP

This is people oriented, it is an encapsulation of the system based leadership and it's application. As rightly stated by John .C. Maxwell, in this leadership it's uses

  1. Initiative- You have to get up to go up
  2. Sacrifice - You have to give up to go up
  3. Maturity - You have to grow up to go up
This leadership involves thinking which is a result of been a life long learner, sacrificing which is a result of letting go of personal convenience in making things better and maturity which helps in solving challenges and making necessary decisions

People based leadership takes into note that systems are designed for people and so they use their people skills, initiative, sacrifice and maturity to develop people into the system in order to achieve the maximum function of the system, and in the process of doing that each individual then become a better person for it. Twenty qualities of a person with the people based leadership includes

  1. Developing the system with a passion to make the difference in others
  2. Having a view of difference with current realities, not comfortable with status quo, as system based leadership confines people into status quo and non creativity
  3. Concerned about procedures but more concerned about people understanding the procedure and personalizing the acceptance of it
  4. Mentors people by his own examples lifestyle
  5. Personally succeeds and influences others to succeed
  6. Take responsibilities why other people make excuses
  7. Knows how to communicate with others
  8. Models the kind of change he will love to see in others
  9. Seeing possibilities in a situation while others are seeing impossibilities
  10. He has an open heart and an open mind
  11. He submerges ego for the sake of what is best
  12. He propels in others to become a better person while FUFILLING the organizational goals and dreams, and make them discover their own abilities and FUFILLING their dreams
  13. He sees the ability in everyone, and sees the places where he can contribute
  14. He works with others and trains others
  15. He is a team player and knows how to harness the power of many
  16. A leader operates with the integrity of the heart, and leads others from the heart
  17. A leader thinks with his head, feels with his heart, and touches with His hand
  18. He sees the way, goes the way, shows the way, explains the way, stays a way, re shows the way and recycle the process.
  19. He cares and in caring, liberates the ideas, energy and capacities of others
  20. He is courageous and secure
  21. He can be trained out of every one.
Lead with people in mind, the long lasting impact you have on people will make them become better than how you met them. enjoy STAND OUT GROUP.
